Holidays in Ahrn valley – Very close to the high mountains giants

The Ahrn valley with its distinctively notched mountain profile is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful valleys in South Tyrol at all. It branches in Bruneck north of the Puster valley and follows the course of the Ahr even in the most northeastern corner of our country. The section to Sand in Taufers is usually called Tauferer valley, while the further section to the source is called Ahrn valley. In this part of the picturesque river valley, in Luttach, there is the Maurlechnhof. We can assure you that you could not have chosen a better place for your holiday in Ahrn valley.

Three-thousanders, wherever you look

The Ahrn valley extends along the southern slopes of the Zillertal Alps. Where once the copper mining brought the region to flourish, it is today the unique proximity to an imposing, deeply impressive mountains to make the same effect. It is the main reason why many holidaymakers visit every year our idyllic valley and like to come back. Because if you spend your holidays in Ahrn valley, you are surrounded by around 80 three-thousanders. The outstanding with 3,499 m peak is the Dreiherren peak.

The Ahrn valley is part of the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, where you can spend many wonderful holidays and can always discover new things, like the Reinsbach waterfalls in Sand in Taufers and other natural wonders. Even tradition, history and culture are worth a vacation in Ahrn valley. Here at the Ahr we keep loving old craftsmanship, customs and traditional ways of life. The symbols of the large mining past of this area are the Mining Museum in a Grain Store at Steinhaus or the Climate gallery in Prettau whose pleasant atmosphere is worth to be experienced at least once.
